Highlights of the program Cities going to cover: Delhi, Agra, Mumbai and Ext to Jaipur is optional
- DAY 1 (14th Nov 2010 – Sunday) : Arrival Delhi A warm welcome at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. You will be received at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands. On arrival at your hotel, you will be greeted with the traditional “AARTI” ritual in which the sacred fire is invoked to bless you a great trip. As a part of the Arti, a red “TIKKA”, also known as the vermilion mark, is applied on the forehead. While you enjoy your welcome drink in the lounge, your room keys would be handed over to you. - DAY 2 (15th Nov 2010 – Monday) : Delhi 0730 - 0830 Hrs: Breakfast Drive Past Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidents House), India Gate, Parliament House, Laxmi Narayan Temple. Visit the famous “Bangla Sahib”, Sikh religious centre at the heart of the city. Here shoes are not allowed inside the sanctum and one need to cover their head. The daily activities at the Shrine are all managed by volunteers (Sewaks) right from arranging shoe racks, cleaning of white marble floors, cooking of prasad (Offering for devotees) made of semolina seeds. The Shrine offers free meals prepared by volunteers and offered through out the day to rich and poor. 1300-1400 Hrs: Lunch at a City Restaurant
- DAY 3 (16th Nov 2010 – Tuesday) : Delhi 1600 Hrs: Leave for tour of Old Delhi: The old Delhi often referred as ‘Walled City’ bears the testimony of Mughal Raj in Delhi. Visit Jama Masjid (Mosque), drive through the fabled city, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort and Raj Ghat 1930 Dinner at city restaurant - DAY 4 (17th Nov 2010 – Wednesday) : Delhi to Agra TAJ MAHAL – A TRIBUTE TO BEAUTY 2000 Hrs: Dinner at Hotel.
- DAY 5 (18th Nov 2010 – Thursday) : Agra - Delhi to Mumbai Welcome at 'Chatrapati Shivaji' domestic airport and transfer provided to hotel. 2000 Hrs. - Dinner at hotel - DAY 6 (19h Nov 2010 – Friday) : Mumbai 1445 – Leave for a city tour: Visit Hanging Garden - It was built early in the 1880's, over Mumbai's main reservoir. It is often said that these gardens were made with the purpose to cover the wayer from the contaminating activities of the nearby Towers of silence. Photo stop at Gateway of India – Built as triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V & Queen Mary, complete with four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow desert stone. Ironically at the time of Indian independence the last British ships that set sail for England, left from the Gateway. Colaba- Traditionally been a shoppers' haven. Causeway shopping is supposed to be the best. Shopping in Colaba is an exciting experience. Here, while shopping one can rub shoulders with Mumbai’s elite. Colaba is one-stop shops where you can get anything you desire to buy. (Optional – Baggi Ride (Horse Cart) around Marine Drive (at extra cost)
The Elephanta Caves date back to 600 AD, the cave complex is a collection of shrines, courtyards, inner cells, grand halls and porticos arranged in the splendid symmetry of Indian rock-cut architecture, and filled with exquisite stone sculptures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. It is situated on Gharapuri Island in Mumbai's harbour, At the entrance to the caves is the famous Trimurti, the celebrated trinity of Elephanta : there's Lord Brahma the Creator, Lord Vishnu, the preserver and Lord Shiva the Destroyer Unfortunately, many of the sculptures inside have been damaged by iconoclastic Portuguese rulers who took potshots at Hindu Gods with their rifles. Post lunch (at a local restaurant) return to hotel. Transfer to International airport and our representatives will provide assistance for check-in.
